Infatuation

The leaves are falling

Infatuations no more

green; blushes remain

Posted for Haiku Heights: Prompt #51 I know most people post pictures with Haikus. Even I felt such a small post looked odd on the blog and wanted to add a picture. But as they say a picture speaks more than 1000 words. What chance will my poor 17 syllables have against a picture? So decided against it.

Ah, I can see we both thought about pictures and haiku. I came down on the other side, though you can look at my reasons for that here:

(They're in the comments section.) Anyway, I enjoyed your haiku without the picture :)

This makes me think of aging...a sort of lament for the loss of the silly-but-delightful feelings of youth. The delightful part is gone, but something remains...the insecurities? The shyness? Anyways, just a quick stab at it.

it is a good thing that green, bushes remain.

Welcometo my blog, wordcoaster. Checked out your blog. Guess I agree with your way of looking at things also.

@Stan - What I meant is as one becomes mature, all that is left are the blushes thinking about the infatuations of the younger days. I wanted to compare blushing and red color of autumn. I am still learning to write Haikus. So probably did not come across strongly.

Thanks, Jingle.

I think it came across just fine. My first look was a quick look. Looking at it again, the blush of the leaf is loud and clear, and a little pondering would have elucidated it. Poets need never apologize for asking their readers to spend time pondering a word, a line, a stanza, or an entire poem.

Hmm. True, Stan. But an ameteur poet never knows.

Only the blushes remaining... Love the way you have put that :)

This made me think of autumn actually. Falling leaves, no infatuations with spring and staying green anymore, and the autumn colors of orange and red! :) Fantastic. And it didn't need anything more to express it I feel!

Thanks a lot, Leo and Shail.
