Why Lucifers House Inc?

This blog is meant to record some of my random musings about various things I encounter in life. These little thoughts blown away like grains of sand by the great wind of life . This blog is meant to capture those grains of sand within this oyster and preserve for eternity as pearls of wisdom. So who is Lucifer and what has this got to do with his house? Lucifer definitely is not my name. It is the name by which Lord Satan also know as the fallen angel more commonly know as the devil is referred to in the old testament. The name Lucifers House Inc. is derived form the maxim "An idle mind is a devil's workshop". The articles appearing in this blog are supposed to be the products of an idle mind. Thus what better name than "Devil's workshop"? The name has been embellished to make it sound like the name of a book publishing company. The explanation would not be complete without extolling the glory of the idle mind. I consider an idle mind to be like primordial soup that spans great creations. If one is too actively involved in too many activities, one tends to get lost in the hustles and bustles of day today life. So one fails to catch the divine inspiration that may descend upon one. To quote John Milton, the great poet, "His state; Is kingly: thousands at his bidding speed,; And post o'er land and ocean without rest;; They also serve who only stand and wait". To further elaborate the importance of idleness, I have posted an article by Bertrand Russell titled "In praise of idleness". Also you can find one of my favorite poems titled leisure which many of us may have read at school.

LOl when i first saw ur blog title, I thought you were a devil worshiper and this blog was about black magic :D. This post certainly did clarify a lot of things.

In my opinion, whoever said that the idle mind was a devils workshop was a fool because the greatest ideas come from a idle mind for example this blog :)

Thanks Abhishek. Glad you liked the concept. And yeah, I have said 'Idel mind is a devil's workshop' here. And guess what. I am The Fool !

Agree with Abhishek here. Most writers spend a lot of time in the Devils workshop. And I mean it in the nicest possible way.
Is there any connection between the word Lucifer and fireflies?

Well Alka - Lucifer means light bearer. That could possibly be the connection. Your comment reminded me. My real name also has a connection with light.
